Miss New Hampshire week begins in just twenty days!! I can't believe it is almost here. So, for the next twenty days, I'll be posting a "daily dose of motivation". I am a quotes junkie (hence, the quotes at the end of all of my blog entries)! I am always moved by quotations, so posting inspiring sayings will definitely give me the extra bit of motivation in my final preparations. So for all my loyal blog readers (hi, mom) -- be sure to check back every day!

Your votes will bring me one
step closer to my goal of becoming Miss New Hampshire 2013 and earning
valuable scholarship dollars.
Hi there! Happy April! I cannot believe (repeat, cannot believe) that it is already April! This month is going to be a crazy (but exciting) one with several big service events at school, papers and assignments, Miss NH Rehearsals, Miss Greater Derry's Outstanding Teen, final Miss NH Preparations, Miss New Hampshire Week, and the culmination of the Spring semester!
In preparation for Miss NH, I have been spending a lot of time at the gym. I like to switch up the music I listen to while working out (hello Pandora), but here are a few of my favorites!!
Girl on Fire (Inferno Version) by Alicia Keys
I am excited to perform Girl on Fire as my talent piece for Miss New Hampshire. It is such a motivating song! Every time it plays, it gives me the extra push to run a little faster or do a few extra squats. And yes, it has to be the Nikki Minaj version. (Unfortunately, I won't be rapping Nikki at Miss NH, although if the talent time limit was a little longer I would absolutely attempt it.)
United State of Pop (2009)
This is a mash-up by DJ Earworm. Every year, he compiles the top pop songs into a fun little remix! I've listened to all of them, but the 2009 one is my favorite.
Country Girl by Luke Bryan
Self explanatory!
Blow by Kesha
Anything by Kesha is great because her songs are so upbeat!
'Till I Collapse by Eminem
I'm not a huge fan of rap, but as Eminem states bluntly, you have to "get that motivation to not give up and not be a quitter, no matter how bad you wanna just fall flat on your face and collapse." There really is no option to give up when this song is playing!
Edge of Glory by Lady Gaga
Such a great song! Upbeat and motivating make for a perfect combination.
22 by Taylor Swift
I love Taylor Swift's music! 22 is one of my new favorites.
Get Your Shine On by Florida Georgia Line
I am a huge country music fan! With summertime approaching, I'm listening to country even more than usual. "Get Your Shine On" is one of my favorites and definitely has the motivation factor!
Stronger by Kelly Clarkson
This is one of those songs that can really apply to every aspect of life. "What doesn't kill you makes you stronger" holds true, whether it is a challenge in your personal life, at work, in school, or at the gym (running stairs ahh!).
Get Up Offa That Thing by James Brown
This is on my trainer's playlist at Bootcamp and happens to have been Miss America's winning talent song this year! Funky and upbeat. I love it!
I always have to switch up what I listen to when I work out, but these are just a few of my favorites! On that note, off to the gym I go!
"All your life you are told the things you cannot do. All your life they will say you're not good enough or strong enough or talented enough, they'll say you're the wrong height or the wrong weight or the wrong type to play this or achieve this. They will tell you NO, a thousand times until all the no's become meaningless. All your life they will tell you no, quite firmly and very quickly. They will tell you no. And you will tell them YES." -Nike
On Sunday I attended the Miss NHOT Tea Party to support Kenya Welch, MNHOT 2013! This is such a huge fundraiser for the teen program. I prepared and donated mini Chocolate Raspberry Trifles (yum!) and sang Reflection during the program. It was such a fun day!
Wow -- February absolutely flew by! I have certainly been busy...
I participated in IHOP's National Pancake Day for Children's Miracle Network in Salem with Miss Monadnock Region, Jill Granucci. We had a blast visiting with all of the patrons and encouraging donations! CMNH is the national charity of the Miss America Organization and I always enjoy volunteering for this amazing program. If you are interested in donating to CMNH, please click here!
The weekend of February 16 and 17 was very busy but so much fun! My first stop on Saturday was the Frost Festival in Derry. I had the chance to perform Reflection and Somewhere Over the Rainbow for the children who were in attendance and visit with all the kids!
Some cute kiddos at Frost Festival
Then, I was off to Miss New Hampshire's Outstanding Teen. On Saturday, there were two preliminary competitions: one for Group A and one for Group B. Emily, MGDOT, competed in the first preliminary show and I'm sure I was more nervous than she was. She was absolutely amazing in all parts of the competition and I am so proud of her!
I bundled up for a snowy Sunday afternoon at Frost Festival. This time, I was able to help out with face painting and crown the Frost Festival King and Queen. It was such a fun event!
Face painting :-)
With the Frost Festival King and Queen. Congratulations!
Finals of Miss NH's Outstanding Teen immediately followed. The show was so exciting! Each and every one of the young ladies competing did such an amazing job representing themselves, their schools, and their local chapters. Girls, if you're reading this, you should all be so proud of yourselves! It takes so much courage to get on that stage at such a young age and I loved watching you all shine. Emily made the Top 10 at Sunday's show!!! I was jumping up and down and may have lost my voice from cheering her on. Congratulations to Kenya Welch, the new Miss New Hampshire's Outstanding Teen!

What a fun day! Today was Miss NH Boot Camp, the official start of the Miss New Hampshire competition season. I am trying to change things up a bit and post some video blogs, or "vlogs", so check out my first one to find out about my day at Boot Camp!
The Miss New Hampshire Class of 2013 is complete! Congratulations to the final two titleholders who will be competing at Miss NH: Alexandra Mills, Miss Granite State, and Katy Piszczek! I was so happy to see these two wonderful ladies capture the final to spots last weekend. :)
The next several months (well, 78 days, but who's counting?) will be very busy for all of us, between last minute preparations for the competition, paperwork, and rehearsals, but I think I can speak for all of us that we are estatic. I cannot wait to spend more time with all of the other contestants as we get ready for Miss NH! One of my favorite things about the Miss New Hampshire program is the friendships you build with the other contestants. The Class of 2013 is already so close, so I'm looking forward to seeing these ladies on an almost weekly basis.
Our first event of the "pageant season" is the Miss New Hampshire's Outstanding Teen competition from Feb. 15-17th (Visit www.missnh.org/teen for ticket information). From there we have Miss NH "Bootcamp"/Orientation, several production rehearsals, a talent rehearsal, and then we hit the big stage to put the show together. Lots of fun! And LOTS of dancing!
